Art Buzz » Jazz and Stuart Davis

Craving the latest in art? Join our new program that mixes art, a signature cocktail, and discussion for an evening that will leave you buzzing over the latest of our temporary exhibitions, new installations, and favorites from the collection. This three-part series will dive deep into the swingin’ world of Stuart Davis, hosted by NWA Jazz Society Director Robert Ginsburg and members of the Crystal Bridges staff. Your ticket includes one signature cocktail, light appetizers, and great conversation and music each night!

Night 1: October 11, 7 to 8:30 pm

Hosts: Zev Slurzberg and James Greeson

Swing into this first evening of Art Buzz with Educator Zev Slurzberg and Northwest Arkansas Jazz Society member James Greeson. This evening will take a close look at the subject, discussing the music and art as Davis begins to create bold, new compositions in the1940s, varying the colors, shapes, lines, and symbols.

Night 2: October 18, 7 to 8:30 pm

Hosts: Stace Treat and Gerald Sloan

This evening, Interpretation Manager Stace treat and Northwest Arkansas Jazz society Member Gerald Sloan will give you a cultural taste of how America, as well as Davis’s art, was shifting, shaking, and moving to boogie woogie and ragtime! We’ll continue our look at Davis and the popular music of the time with a close look at the techniques of the music and the art. This will include a discussion in the classroom and in the galleries.

Night 3: October 25, 7 to 8:30 pm

Hosts: Robert Ginsberg, Stace Treat and Zev Slurzberg

Cap off this series of Art Buzz with Executive Director of the Northwest Arkansas Jazz Society, Robert Ginsberg, in conversation with Treat and Slurzberg as they end with a look at the 50’s and early 60s, as well as the spirit of the art and music.
