Arkansas New Play Festival

Join us at the Museum as we host the first weekend of Arkansas’ flagship festival of bold new plays for the American stage! More than 40 professional artists will come together in Northwest Arkansas to create and present never-before-seen scripts in advance of their national premieres. With two full weekends of performances, the festival includes both fully-staged new work and staged reading performances at TheatreSquared and Crystal Bridges. You’re invited to sit in for the performances and an intimate conversation with the playwright and cast. Help shape new works from the ground up!

Festival pass prices range from $36 to $42. Passes can be purchased at http://theatre2.org/.

The Arkansas New Play Festival is held Friday, June 17 through Thursday, June 26. A Festival Pass grants entry to two weekends of performances, including three staged readings, a staged workshop production, and the Young Playwrights’ Showcase. The second weekend will be held at TheatreSquared in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

It’s 1962 and R&B legend Nina Simone is holed up in a snowstorm in a small-town café somewhere in North Carolina. Tempers flare between band members, and as secrets start to surface, it’s soon clear this small room in unfriendly territory may well be the place where life-changing decisions are made. A sharply drawn, exciting new play by Brooklyn-based playwright, Amy Evans.
