Aniwisvsgo’I: A Dance Performance by Maura Garcia
Maura Garcia Dance presents “Aniwisvsgo’i” which means “Planting” in Cherokee. Experience a site-specific dance performance highlighting the natural landscape of Northwest Arkansas park’s–Lake Atalanta and Lake Fayetteville. Aniwisvsgo’i is choreographed by Maura Garcia Dance in collaboration with dozens of local community volunteers to honor Indigenous planting traditions. Space, location and time all effect the growing cycle. The dance is split into three parts: preparing the ground, planting and harvest.

You’re welcome to participate in this site-specific dance performance.
Community participants do not need to be trained dancers–all bodies and abilities are welcome–but should be comfortable with moving in the background during a live performance. Open to performers ages 12 and up.
