A sign that reads:

Northwest Arkansas is growing and the need for public transportation is growing too—so let’s talk about and celebrate transit in our community!

Join us in Springdale, October 21 and 22, for the Transit Education Festival, a two-day experience using art to create awareness and promote hope in the community, presented by the Arts and Social Impact Accelerator Partnership (ASAP) with Ozark Regional Transit Authority (ORT), resident artists Octavio Logo and Lakisha Bradley, and Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. Special shout out to Art Ventures for engaging transportation spaces with an art exhibition transforming ORT’s building and bus into an art gallery.

Come celebrate the role public transit plays in the community, connect with local artists and resources, learn about transit in Northwest Arkansas, and make your voice heard with family-friendly, expressive artmaking.

Free, no tickets required. Drop by anytime.

Come meet the artists behind the station’s temporary public art installation, enjoy live performances, a DJ from HerSet.HerSound, and food provided by Second Helping NWA BBQ, and make your voice heard through expressive art.

Join artists Octavio Logo, Lakisha Bradley (MY-T-BY-DESIGN), and Isabel Messina in the creation of a community mural sharing views and experiences with public transit. Then, connect with local artists and help create awareness around transit with the family-friendly “Stoop Talk” Creative Art Workshop, presented by University of Arkansas artist Larissa Ramsey. In the evening, Poetic Justice: Speak Your Jewel will be hosting an open mic event from 6 to 7 p.m., moderated by poet L.I.F.E. Bring a blanket or chair and let your voice be heard, or sit back and listen to work of local poets. Then, stick around for a transit film documentary screening and learn about the history and stories of public transit in the community.

Saturday, October 22: Transit Community Day

On Saturday, stop by the main hub of ORT at 2423 E. Robinson Avenue in Springdale for an afternoon of food, fun, and community. Come hungry and join us for lunch as we grill hamburgers, hot dogs, and carne asada, and meet local partners and community organizations supporting transit in Northwest Arkansas. Tour the new ORT facility, connect with their team, and meet the artists creating the new ORT bus wraps. There will be outdoor DJ music sets by artists from HerSet.HerSound, community organization booths, games, and a bounce house for the kids to play. You’ll also have the chance to share your thoughts and experiences with public transit during the open community conversation. Special shout out to Art Ventures for engaging transportation spaces with an art exhibition transforming ORT’s building and bus into an art gallery.

Throughout the afternoon, members of the ORT, ASAP, and community partner teams will present their work with public transit as part of the Transit Conversation series.

Free and open to the public, this celebration is fun and informative for the whole family. See you there!
