As school winds down for the holidays, it’s time to get planning. Where to go? What to do? How to distract the wee ones? Rest assured! We have you covered.
The Museum will be hosting a plethora of art-making activities, family tours, and performances during Winter Break Wonders. Our art studios will be offering opportunities to try your hand at foam paper marbeling, creating winter landscapes in watercolor, cityscape collages, and good old-fashioned paper snowflakes! The family holiday fun will take place Saturday, December 21 through Sunday, January 5. A complete schedule of activities is available online.
Gallery Fun and Games Crystal Bridges offers a variety of resources to enhance your family’s Museum experience. Art Totes containing gallery-oriented activities and games are available for check-out at no cost. Pick one up at the Information Pod in the main lobby when you arrive (totes are available on a first-come, first-served basis). They feature gallery hunts, conversation starters, and games geared toward getting you talking about, thinking about, and interacting with the works in our collection. (In case you missed it, here’s a do-at-home art-making project from one of our Museum Educators.)
Our current exhibition, The Artists’ Eye: Georgia O’Keeffe and the Alfred Stieglitz Collection, features its own Family Guide with activities and information to enhance your family’s gallery experience. Audio tours of the temporary exhibition, as well as of the permanent collection, are available for free check-out at the Museum’s Guest Services Desk, or you can download the tour to your own Apple device via the iTunes App store.
Oh, Extra Bonus: Visit the exhibition between December 21 and 31, and your admission to The Artists’ Eye is free!
Give-Aways! Also, if you stop by the Museum between December 21 and 31, you’ll be able to participate in 11 Days of Give-Aways. There will be daily opportunities to win. Prizes include free admission to a class or workshop; gift memberships; a copy of Art in Nature, a new book published by Scala; The Art of Crystal Bridges, a documentary by Emmy award-winning filmmaker Larry Foley; Crystal Bridges-branded goody-bags; a gallery tour with Niki Stewart, Director of Exhibitions and Education; and a spring Trail Tour with Scott Eccleston, Director of Facilities and Grounds. Enter to win in the main lobby.
So, come to Crystal Bridges this holiday season—explore, learn, play. We’ll make sure you return from your holiday break with some stories to tell.
