Don’t miss the museum’s fifth annual celebration of all things flora and fauna: Garden Party! The event will take place this Saturday, June 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. all across the Crystal Bridges museum and grounds. The day is going to be packed to the brim with music, activities, education booths, performances, and more, so before you head to the museum, read about what you can expect at Garden Party:
We anticipate a lot of folks coming to the museum for Garden Party. Visitors are encouraged to park in the Additional Parking Lot or at Orchard Park across the street. Shuttles will be running throughout the day. Parking farther up also guarantees that you won’t miss any of the fun activities set up along the Orchard Trail leading down to the museum’s entrance. Or bring your bike and enjoy all the trails!
Crystal Bridges is pleased to host Maura Garcia Dance for a week-long artist engagement this summer (June 1-9). During Garden Party, the Kansas City-based ensemble will present performances of Aniwisvsgo’i on the Frank Lloyd Wright Lawn at 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Aniwisvsgo’i means “they are always planting” in the Cherokee language. The dance honors Indigenous planting traditions, the elements, and our places in the world. Aniwisvsgo’i is split into three parts: preparing the ground, planting, and harvest. The thread that connects us to our ancestral homelands, where we live now, and ultimately one another, weaves itself in and out this exploration of our relationship with the powers that make growth possible. Learn more about Maura Garcia and her other performances here.
Smokey the Bear is celebrating his 75th birthday! Don’t miss him on the trails during Garden Party. Learn about forest safety and be sure to give him a big birthday bear hug! Don’t miss Storytelling Time with Smokey the Bear and the Bentonville Public Library on the Orchard Trail from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
