Art Night Out is a family-friendly party happening in the museum’s North Forest on Friday, September 27 from 6 to 10 p.m.
Art Night Out is completely FREE for everyone, and all ages are welcome. There will be live music, performances, and art activities available throughout the evening in honor of the last weekend of our summer exhibition, Color Field.

If you’ve been to one of our Forest Concert Series events, you know right where to go! Art Night Out will be held in the North Forest, in the same area where the Forest Concerts take place, where the food truck area is, and where Color Field is currently located.
To get there, park in the additional parking lot at the top of the hill, walk across the street toward the Amazeum and link up with the trail. When you come to the large Deer sculpture by Tony Tassett, take a right and make your way down the path to the party. Lawn chairs are allowed, but no coolers, please. Eleven’s food truck, High South on a Roll, will have food and drinks available for purchase throughout the evening.
We were so bummed when local favorite Arkansauce was rained out of the Forest Concert Series earlier this summer. But luckily, they are coming back to headline Art Night Out! Arkansauce is a genre-hopping, four piece string band from northwest Arkansas, bending the rules and blurring the lines between bluegrass, newgrass, folk, americana, country, blues, and funk. They will perform on the concert stage from 8:30 to 10 p.m.
Color Field will be closing after September 30, so this will be the last weekend to experience it! While you’re enjoying the live music and activities, feel free to take a walk around the North Forest loop to absorb the colors of the artworks one last time. But wait! There’s one more special treat. Set up at various sculptures, local artists will be performing poetry, music, and opera pieces throughout the evening. Catch these performances below throughout the evening:
arx duo is a pair of insanely talented percussionists (Mari Yoshinaga and Garrett Arney) who have performed throughout the globe, conducted workshops on three continents, and worked with a variety of composers and artists to bring new creations to audiences everywhere. Last summer, they performed as the Ensemble-in-Residence at Artosphere Music Festival in Fayetteville. Take a look at the video above to get a glimpse at their talent, and get psyched to see them on stage at Art Night Out! They will perform on the concert stage from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Artmaking activities will keep the kids (and the adults) entertained and engaged throughout the evening. Find activities happening all around the North Forest, including meditation painting with tempera sticks, colorful sculpture-making, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, a pirate ship activity with En Masse Arts, live painting with artist Matt Miller, and more!
