Get to know a little more about this month’s Volunteer Spotlight: Victoria, Alvin, and Tyler Mizner!
Tell us a little about yourself.
Victoria, Alvin, Tyler, (and daughter, Julia) moved here 16 years ago. They’ve seen Crystal Bridges and the entire Bentonville area transformed into the fantastic vacation spot it is today. Victoria is an accountant and works from home. Alvin works at Walmart. Tyler attends Hass Hall (Bentonville) as a senior this year. Julia will be a sophomore at Hass and can’t wait to be a Grounds Ambassador.
Victoria volunteers at her children’s schools, is passionate about the environment, enjoys tennis, hiking, and kayaking. She plants an overabundance of flowers every spring and loves warm weather.
Alvin loves building projects, hiking, and teaching his kids to fly.
Tyler is president of the National Beta Club, loves helping others, and is learning to fly. He had his first solo flight this spring.

In what ways have you been involved as a volunteer with the museum thus far?
All three of us are Grounds Ambassadors. Tyler and Victoria have attended a “bee outing.” We hope to become more involved when Julia becomes old enough to volunteer.
What prompted you to become a volunteer?
We live close to Crystal Bridges and truly love this area. While walking around one day, Bobby Lee stopped us and told us about the Grounds Ambassador opportunity. He has always been so kind! Well, it seemed only natural that we should volunteer, so we did!
What do you enjoy most about your volunteer experience?
Victoria: Being outside and helping others.
Alvin: Lending a hand. Relaxing by Crystal Bridges.
Tyler: Walking–it’s a great way to spend time together as a family.
What have you learned from-or how have you been personally affected by your experience with the museum?
Victoria: All of the employees are so very sweet. We all appreciate one another in some role that constantly strives to make the museum and grounds unforgettable.
Alvin: I’m still amazed today that we have such a great place so close to home.
Tyler: I’ve seen classic pieces of artwork that I would not have had the opportunity to see otherwise – pieces that I’ve learned about in school! It’s amazing!
Do you have a funny or inspirational story you can briefly tell about your volunteer experience?
Walking around last summer, we stopped to ask a couple if they needed help, and they said that they wanted “an adventure,” but were not sure which way to go. We ended up walking them through the trails in a mini-tour. They loved it–and so did we!
Do you have any advice for individuals considering volunteering with Crystal Bridges?
Victoria: The more you enjoy what you do, the more you’ll do it.
Alvin: It’s a rewarding experience. You won’t be sorry you did it.
Tyler: Love nature as a Grounds Ambassador, love art as a volunteer.
