Volunteer Spotlight: Ralph Harvey

Career Information (Past, Present or Future)

I served in the United States Navy for 22 years. Then I worked as a United Methodist clergy for 22 years. I retired in 2001.

Hobbies/Activities/Interests

I enjoy fishing and reading.

Favorite artwork or space at the museum

My favorite space at Crystal Bridges is the Library.

How did you learn about the museum and what prompted you to get involved?

I came to the museum to see the permanent collection and I thought I’d like to learn a little more about art. Volunteering has been a good way to learn new things.

In what ways have you been involved as a volunteer with the museum thus far?

I volunteer in both the Library and the museum lobby.

What keeps you coming back to volunteer?

The people who volunteer here are great!

What do you enjoy most about your volunteer experience?

Meeting new people.

What have you learned or how have you been personally affected by your experience with the museum?

I have learned quite a bit about art that I didn’t know before.

Do you have any advice for individuals considering volunteering with Crystal Bridges?

Come join us, the people are great.
