Volunteer Spotlight: Patricia Czuba

Meet Crystal Bridges volunteer Patricia Czuba!

Career Information
Although I have a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Education, I never taught in a school. I worked in banking and
the insurance industry. I primarily worked in sales, training agents and developing and giving seminars to the public.

Hobbies
My husband, John, and I love to travel–especially cruises and Europe. I love to read and belong to three book clubs.

Favorite artwork or space at the Museum?
I love the art of Georgia O’Keeffe. Jimson Weed is just breathtaking. The color and detail is fantastic. Plus, the background wall color and location just makes this painting pop.

How did you learn about the Museum and what prompted you to get involved?
When we traveled to NW Arkansas to visit our son and his family, we saw the information at XNA. After I retired, I had the time to volunteer.

In what ways have you been involved as a volunteer with the Museum thus far?
I have been a museum guide since opening day. I have also worked with the Museum Store and as an Avant Gardener. When the Bachman-Wilson House opened, I became an Architecture Guide. In 2017 I became a Gallery Guide.

What keeps you coming back to volunteer?
Our guests are just awesome. It is wonderful to be able to share the information we have been given about the BWH, the Art, and the museum with the guests and see them enjoy the experience.

What have you learned or how have you been personally affected from your experience with the museum?
I feel very privileged to be a part of the guide program here. It has presented me with a new set of challenges which are very fulfilling.

Do you have a funny or inspirational story you can briefly tell about your volunteer experience? Please share with us!
In 2016 I was on a tour of the Frank Lloyd Wright Laurent House in Rockford, Ill. One week later that same guide (coincidentally) was on my tour of our Frank Lloyd Wright Bachman-Wilson House.

Anything else you would like to share?
Thank you–especially to the volunteer and guide program’s staff for the ongoing education, support, and training we are given.

Do you have any advice for individuals considering volunteering with Crystal Bridges?
Don’t hesitate to join us! There are opportunities available for everyone’s interests.
