The New 365: 2017 Edition

New Year’s Eve is a little like half a glass of water:  different people see it different ways.  Is the glass half empty, or half full?  Is an old year leaving or a new year beginning?  Whether you’re welcoming a brand-new year, or kissing the old year goodbye, New Year’s Eve is a time for celebration, and Crystal Bridges’ annual New 365 party is the way to do it in style!

This year’s event offers even more fun, festive activities for you.  We’ll be transforming the Great Hall into a glowing disco dance club. Fayetteville DJ Robe Flax opens the show, spinning hot wax from 9:30 to 11 p.m., followed by our headliner, Jack Novak, who comes on at 11:00 to rock you into the new year with her electric jams that Interview magazine calls “intense, intimate, epic dance” tracks that take you on a “trippy journey… that makes you want to tear up the club, throw down on the party, pop bottles forever…”

Meanwhile, across the upper pond, the museum’s restaurant, Eleven, will be offering up a nightclub lounge vibe, featuring Matt Stansberry and the Romance, who will be playing their own unique form of Rock & Roll that blends American popular music, Blues, R&B, Soul, and Funk from 9:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.

Three regional artists—Emily Chase, Kat Wilson, and Ryan Tate—will be producing live art installations from 9:30 to 11:30, inspired by works in Crystal Bridges’ collection. Kat calls her performance piece a “New Year’s Eve Halftime Show” and says “Watch and interact as we interview famous artists about their art and art practice. You do not want to miss this amazing live show with special co-hosts Jamie Wyeth (Kristoffer Johnson) and Dolly Parton (Jessica Wurst) and Andy Warhol (me). This is going to be a NYE to remember!”

Get a fresh perspective on some of the jazzy, brilliantly colored artworks in the exhibition Stuart Davis: In Full Swing, with an Alternative Tour hosted by Associate Museum Educator Kentrell Curry.  Beginning every half hour from 9:30 to 11:30 p.m., each tour kicks off with an alcohol-infused cherry treat and then enters the exhibition gallery for an art adventure featuring a red wagon, a cigar box, and a saxophone.

And finally, get down…. waaaaay down… into the museum’s lower lobby where wild things can happen with off-the-chain karaoke and a colorful New 365 photobooth.

Of course, the evening will be fueled with complimentary appetizers from Eleven, a complimentary midnight toast with prosecco and a cash bar all night long!
