IMG_6329The ceremony of giving thanks is as old as time and universal in cultures around the world.  Crystal Bridges is closed today, to allow our staff members and volunteers the opportunity to observe this holiday in their own way.  But we would like to take this opportunity to give thanks to you, our guests, Members, patrons, and supporters of all kinds. You have made this dream—this Big Idea of a major American museum in the heart of the Ozarks—come true.

It was a bold vision, plopping an art museum out in the middle of what some people in more urban areas might consider “fly-over” country. But Crystal Bridges has taken root—in our local community and in the larger art community, and it’s because of all of you who have embraced this experiment and made the Museum a part of your lives and your world.

1So, thank you.  Thanks to all the donors and sponsors who have funded our programming and exhibitions. Thanks to all the Members who proudly say they are a part of Crystal Bridges.  Thanks to the staff members who came from near and far to live and work in Northwest Arkansas and bring a dream to life. Thanks to the teachers who rushed to bring their students to the Museum and to make art part of their curriculum in classrooms across the region.  Thanks to the volunteers:  retirees, working parents, stay-at-home moms and dads, empty nesters, art lovers, master gardeners, and college students who give freely of their time to staff our many volunteer positions. Thanks to the families who come for Family Sunday, the couples who make Crystal Bridges their Friday Date Night destination, and the locals who take pride in bringing their out-of-town guests to show off their museum.

DSC_9135Thanks to the runners and dog-walkers, the photographers and thoughtful ramblers who travel Crystal Bridges’ trails, taking inspiration from this beautiful environment. Thanks to the kids who come back time and again to see their favorite artwork in the collection, to the students who do research in the library, and the young professionals who make Eleven their Wednesday-night happy hour spot. Thanks to the other museums and art institutions in the area that have welcomed and partnered with us in celebrating art and culture in Arkansas.

SEI20130607_0506Thanks for believing. Thanks for coming. Thanks for telling your friends and neighbors about us.  Thanks for being part of Crystal Bridges.
