Choose Your Own Adventure Itinerary: Adult, Day or More

Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art will be closed Monday, May 13, to prepare for the visit of Antiques Roadshow. We will return to normal hours of operation Wednesday, May 15.

There is so much to see during the Summer at Crystal Bridges that it might be difficult to even know where to start. That’s where the Choose Your Own Adventure Summer 2019 Itineraries come in hand!

If you are an adult/group of adults who has a day or more to spend at Crystal Bridges, please see the below itinerary to plan your trip to the museum this summer:

 

Choose Your Own Adventure Summer 2019 Itinerary

Adult, Day or More

Day 1

10 – 11 am: Discover 300 years of American art and how artists have portrayed nature over time in Nature’s Nation, located in the Temporary Exhibition Gallery.

11-11:30 am: Grab a free ticket at the front desk and take a self-guided tour through the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Bachman-Wilson House (guided tours occur in the afternoon).

11:30 am – 12:30 pm: Grab lunch at Eleven or food from the Coffee Bar.

12:30 – 2:30 pm: Explore the galleries and drop in on a gallery conversation or tour (check the calendar for dates and times).

 

Wednesday-Friday: 5-9 pm, Come back for dinner at Eleven! Enjoy breathtaking views while you dine on elevated southern cooking under Jeff Koons’s Hanging Heart.

Then,

Sunset: Head to Skyspace: The Way of Color (located on the Art Trail, past the South Lawn) at sunset to watch a light and color show like you’ve never seen, and then make your way back to the museum entrance to sit under Buckyball to witness another magical light show.

 

Day 2

10 – 11:30 am: Grab a coffee at the Coffee Bar and head out to the North Forest for Color Field, our first outdoor sculpture exhibition (beat the crowds by going first thing).

If it’s Sunday: 11:30 am, Join us for a Buffet Brunch at Eleven!

12-1 pm: Experience the Studio (located across Walker Landing) and try your hand at artmaking, available for all ages.

1-2 pm: Grab a snack and hit the trails, or spend some more time in the permanent galleries.

OR

If you’re a biker, hop on your bike and try out the All-American Trail, which is partially found on our grounds.

 

If it’s Saturday: Come back at 7 pm for the Forest Concert Series + see Color Field at night! Food and drinks will be available at the food truck.

OR

Sunset: Head to Skyspace: The Way of Color at sunset to watch a light and color show like you’ve never seen, and then make your way back to the museum entrance to sit under Buckyball to witness another magical light show.

 

Didn’t get to see Nature’s Nation or Color Field? Don’t worry! If you purchased an exhibition ticket, you can come back within one month of the purchase date and see the exhibition you missed, free of charge.
