Crystal Bridges’ outdoor app, CB Outdoors, received an Honorable Mention for Mobile Applications at the 2016 MUSE Awards ceremony at the American Alliance of Museums annual convention. MUSE awards recognize outstanding achievement in galleries, libraries, archives, or museums media.
Here’s what the judges had to say about it:
CB Outdoors is an application dealing with the common problem of large amounts of content and manages to deliver it to users in a friendly and convenient manner. The ease of use of the application, combined with the depth and grouping of the content, succeeded in encouraging a number of jurors to seek out additional information about Crystal Bridges and make it a desired destination – not an easy task for an application to solve with jurors well acquainted with the museum field.
CB Outdoors is an app for Apple or Android devices that includes interactive maps of the trails, a plant identification guide, information about the art found on the Museum’s 120-acre grounds, as well as the flora and fauna, geology, and history of specific locations along the trails, plus a gallery to which users can upload their own photos. The app is free to download.
CB Outdoors is sponsored by Cox Communications.
