“I’ve been here since 1959 and things have changed tremendously. I think we are a region – we’re not Rogers, Fayetteville, Springdale – and the Museum is such a tremendous addition to the entire community. “
How frequently do you visit Crystal Bridges?
I’m guessing I visit about a half dozen times during the year to see the art, participate in programs that include the art, or to hear Ms. Walton speak when there is an opportunity. I enjoy her enthusiasm so much.
Why did you become a Member?
I became a Member because I thought Crystal Bridges was a wonderful addition to Northwest Arkansas and I wanted to help the surrounding population and children become appreciative of art.
In your own words, what is the impact of the Museum on the region?
I can hardly find words to describe the impact of the Museum – it’s such a boom to the region. I’ve been here since 1959 and things have changed tremendously. I think we are a region – we’re not Rogers, Fayetteville, Springdale – and the Museum is such a tremendous addition to the entire community.
What Member benefits do you most enjoy?
The travel program, especially the trip to Kansas City in March. I enjoyed seeing the different exhibitions, the food, and the fact that transportation was provided so you didn’t have to drive yourself – that’s a really big plus.
What is your favorite type of art?
I like the landscapes and, of course, the Frank Lloyd Wright house that is coming. My oldest son is an architect and graduated from the University of Arkansas. I think it’s wonderful that we are engaging UA students in the study of the house.
