Meet Watercolor Wonder Leana Fischer at the Museum Store

This event has been canceled due to Crystal Bridges’ response to COVID-19. Follow our updates.

While you’re at the museum for Art in Bloom on Saturday, March 21, make sure to stop by the Museum Store and meet Leana Fischer, artist, watercolor painter, and owner of May We Fly, a stationery and gift brand devoted to all things delightful.

With a background in architecture, Leana moved with her husband to Fayetteville from Blacksburg, VA. Once she became acquainted with the area, she spent her free time drawing animals, particularly razorbacks, and opened an Etsy shop to sell a few of them. Thus, May We Fly was born.

For the next few years, Leana worked part-time at an architecture firm, working on May We Fly on the side. She also started teaching at the Community Creative Center, where she instructs adult pottery and watercolor classes. In February of 2017, she took the leap and opened her studio shop.

Leana takes inspiration from the little things in nature, and her subjects include a variety of plants, animals, and landscapes. She has led several watercolor workshops at Crystal Bridges and continues to teach.

Leana will be doing a watercolor demonstration for the Museum Store on Saturday, March 21, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Come visit Leana and observe her watercolor skills during Art in Bloom, then take a piece of her art home with you!
