Norman Rockwell’s Rosie the Riveter is one of visitors’ favorite paintings in Crystal Bridges’ permanent collection. Rosie appeared on the cover of the Saturday Evening Post on Memorial Day, 1943. She epitomizes the more-than 2 million women who entered the workforce when nearly 10 million American men had vacated their positions to join the military during World War II. The video was produced by Khan Academy as part of their extensive Smarthistory series.
