Join Tyson Fellow Tim Andrus for a lively conversation in the special exhibition Stuart Davis: In Full Swing. Tim will showcase the visual play in Davis’s representation of everyday objects such as eggbeaters and saws, the puns included in the images, and more! The talk is free, but a ticket to the exhibition is required.

At this conversation, Assistant Curator Alejo Benedetti will lead a discussion about works by artists Mary Ann Currier and Jimmy Baker, whose works were included in the 2014 exhibition State of the Art and are now on view in the 1940s to Now Gallery. Gallery Conversation and Performance » Victoria Marks

Meet Los Angeles-based choreographer Victoria Marks for this special conversation and gallery performance in the museum’s permanent collection. Victoria will discuss some of the inspirations behind the choreography of her November 10 Performance Lab presentation, Honoring Citizenship, giving guests a peek into her creative process behind the work “Solar Duplex.” Victoria Marks is a Guggenheim Fellow and has been honored with the Alpert Award for Outstanding Achievement in Choreography. She has received numerous awards for her dance films, including the Grand Prix in the Video Danse, first prize in Videodance Barcelona, and Best of Show in the Dance Film Association’s Dance and the Camera Festival. Marks is a professor of choreography in the Department of World Arts and Cultures at UCLA. Space is limited – please arrive 5 to 10 minutes early.

Do great beards and mustaches make the man?  Join Educator Zev Slurzberg in a character study of some of the greatest facial hair in the collection.  Collaboratively, we will decide if the beard really does make the man.  This is in honor of the month of “Movember” and the awareness it brings to men’s health.
