Our final wintry share for today. While it may be cold & snowy in Arkansas, it's still no match for Richard Estes "Antartica", oil on canvas. http://ow.ly/rwbQs
Regrettably, we are canceling the concert at the Museum on Saturday, December 7. The University of Arkansas Percussion Ensemble would also like to extend their regret for canceling as they were looking forward to this performance, yet unsafe road conditions for student performers necessitate the cancellation. We hope to reschedule a re-do in the Spring semester upon the students return.
A favorite work in our 20th c. gallery, Snow on Alden Brook by Neil G. Welliver, oil on canvas. It's actually comprised of countless dots of paint, read on: http://ow.ly/rw9yx
You had these cute Santa alarm clocks that first Christmas season in the gift shop. You wouldn't happen to have them this year, would you?
Evocative of the wintry Arkansas landscape today: Winter in the Country, Jervis McEntee, oil on canvas. http://ow.ly/rw8fE

Happy birthday to Gilbert Stuart, born this day in 1755. Here, his "George Washington [The Constable Hamilton Portrait]," 1797
Oil on canvas. Stuart's portraits of George Washington have become the iconic likenesses of him--in fact, the image on the one-dollar bill is based on a Stuart portrait. http://ow.ly/rptnW
