Summer Film Series » B-Movies in Arkansas: The Legend of Boggy Creek
Arkansas was no exception to the 1970s explosion of B-movies, many of them so bad they are comical. We’ll talk criminals, car chases, Roger Corman, gore, and more with low-budget cult films based in the state. After the discussion, we’ll watch The Legend of Boggy Creek, a 1972 pseudo-documentary about a small town near Texarkana menaced by the Fouke Monster, a local Bigfoot. This film used primarily locals and cost $170,000 to make, but brought in close to $25 million due to drive-in audiences of the 1970s.
