Film Screening and Discussion » Te Ata

Join us for a screening of the film Te Ata and a discussion with its filmmakers. Te Ata recently premiered at the Bentonville Film Festival, receiving rave reviews. Based on a true story, Te Ata tells the story of a woman who traversed cultural barriers to become one of the greatest Native American performers of all time. Born in Indian Territory, and raised on the songs and stories of her Chickasaw tribe, Te Ata’s journey to find her true calling led her through isolation, discovery, love, and a stage career that culminated in performances for a United States president, European royalty, and audiences across the world. After the film, join the filmmakers for a Q&A session about the movie and the life of Te Ata. Special thanks to our community collaborators: Tribal Voices from Walmart’s Associate Resource Groups and representatives from the Chickasaw Nation.
