Chihuly Saturday Nights » Performance by Monica Thomas
Expanding Glass, Expanding Body, by choreographer Monica Thomas, will explore our interactions with glass arts, specially timed with the current exhibition, Chihuly: In the Forest. Thomas will present a dance-theater, site-specific exploration of space and sculptural materials, featuring Chicago-based professional dancers and Northwest Arkansas community performers. Monica and performers will explore Chihuly’s forms, responding to their shapes, movement, and interaction with light through physical vignettes. Thomas, originally from Fayetteville, is a dancer, actor, choreographer, and filmmaker. She performed as a company member with Winifred Haun and Dancers, Mordine & Company, and Striding Lion Performance Group. Her dance film works have appeared in festivals nationally and internationally.
