Al Otro Lado (2005), a documentary film about illegal immigration and drug trafficking between Mexico and the United States, addresses issues facing people both north and south of the border. The film focuses on Magdiel, a 23-year-old fisherman and aspiring composer who dreams of a better life in the United States. After the film, join us for a live Skype discussion with filmmaker Natalia Almada. Almada‘s work has appeared at numerous national and international venues, including the Museum of Modern Art, the Sundance Film Festival, the Guggenheim Museum, the Munich International Film Festival, and the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight.
