With all the changes that 2016 brought for artinfusion, your friendly neighborhood artinfusionGuru thought a “2017 Field Guide” might help refresh your mind on the whos, whats, wheres, and whens of artinfusion. And for those of you who like something in hard-copy form, old-school style, there’s a new artinfusion membership FAQ that any Member can pick up from our pals at Guest Services in the Museum’s main lobby.

Let’s start off with a quick look at the different types of hijinx that artinfusion Members can get up to in 2017. First there are artinfusion Insights, monthly social hours with a twist of arts inspiration that will connect you to the latest happenings at the Museum. Artinfusion’s 2017 Insight series is packed with incredible experiences including a special gallery tour in January with Margi Conrads, Crystal Bridges’ Director of Curatorial Affairs; a chance to meet internationally renowned performance artist Marina Abromovic, and a chat with sound sculptor Guillermo Galindo, whose work will be featured in the special exhibition Border Cantos: Sight and Sound Explorations of the Mexican-American Border (opening February 18).

Next, of course, are artinfusion Excursions, our exciting exploration program that invites Members to creative spaces, like studios or galleries, around Northwest Arkansas to meet with artists and other arts professionals in their “natural habitats.” Excursions will kick off on Saturday, March 4, with a special tour of the art collection at the Tyson Foods Headquarters in Springdale. Tyson’s curator will be on hand to offer insights on this corporate collection that is not usually open to the public. Then in April, Members will journey to the Fayetteville studio of celebrated ceramic artists Linda Lopez and Mathew McConnell.

Artinfusion has become known for bringing “arty” to the “party” with our three signature celebrations, and 2017 will be no exception. Our blockbuster anti-Valentines Day bash, Black Hearts Ball, is slated for Saturday, February 11, and will feature the electro R&B singer Mobley, live art with local favorite Octavio Logo, and other hints of local flavor in music and performance. In August artinfusion will mark the end of summer at Summer Fling, a summer white party unlike any you’ve seen before. Last, but certainly not least, comes Halloween in the Hollow in October! This isn’t you’re mother’s Halloween party, so bring out your most off-the-wall costume.

Working with community and creative organizations is also on artinfusion calendar for 2017. In March, artinfusion Members will enjoy special access to Northwest Arkansas Fashion Week as part of our first collaboration of the year. Make sure to keep an eye out throughout the year to learn more about what we do to support the arts community in our own backyard.

With this adventurous spirit in mind, artinfusion offers other exciting ventures beyond the Museum’s walls, including a special travel experience. Last year, Members visited the Dallas Art Fair with Curator Chad Alligood and were treated to a cameo appearance by Crystal Bridges’ founder and board chair, Alice Walton, who shared insights on her interests in art and collecting. 2017’s trip is still in the works, be sure to watch for more information, coming soon!

But WAIT, there’s MORE!

This field guide would be incomplete without sharing the newest benefit available to artinfusion Members: a voice on the artinfusion Advisory Council. This is a group of highly involved artinfusion Members and Sponsors who work with Museum staff to chart the course for artinfusion programming, community collaborations, and Member travel. All current Members are eligible to apply.

Adding artinfusion to any Crystal Bridges Membership is a steal at $35 for individuals and $55 for dual/family Memberships. Artinfusion Members enjoy free tickets to all Insights, Excursions, and Signature Parties (non-Members may purchase tickets for each event if tickets are available). Artinfusion Members also enjoy other perks, including discounts at the Museum Store, Eleven, and 21c Museum Hotel Bentonville (see other benefits here). Travel with Crystal Bridges is open exclusively to Members.

2017 promises to be artinfusion’s best year yet, and there’s never been a better time to join (or renew!).
